Residence permit processing to resume

What is the change?

The Migration Directorate has announced that it will resume processing Istanbul-based residence permits.

Key Points

  • Applications cannot be filed in person and must, instead, be filed via local Turkish post or courier
  • Residence permit applications that have an appointment from June 1 until Aug. 17 must be sent to the district migration location where the application was originally made.
  • Below are the date ranges within which applications must be postmarked
Appointment DatesFiling Period
June 1-12May 18-29
June 15-26June 1-12
June 29-July 23June 15-26
July 24-August 11June 29-July 10
August 12-August 17July 13-July 24

Residence permits began experiencing processing delays last October 2019.

Although it is welcome news that applicants do not have to appear at crowded government offices, postal applications can be difficult to track, leading to processing delays.
